COP15 moves to the Palais - Useful infoActualité

COP15

The Palais des congrès de Montréal is hosting the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) December 1 through 19, 2022. This is a major event that will help shape the planet’s biodiversity and climate change policy for the future. Organizing a conference of this size requires the coordinated effort of numerous municipal and governmental authorities, and the rollout of a citywide logistical plan. We’ve packaged some useful information regarding how COP15 will unfold.

Until November 30 inclusive, the Palais will be open and accessible as usual.

For any further questions about security, access, or circulation in the area, please contact the City of Montréal by contacting 311 by phone (from Montréal) or +1 514 872-0311 (from outside Montréal).

November

Our November events are running as planned. We look forward to welcoming you for the Salon du livre de Montréal book fair November 23 through 27.

December

The December events slated for the Palais have been relocated to other venues or rescheduled to accommodate these exceptional circumstances. Consequently, the Salon des métiers d’art du Québec 2022 will take place at the Olympic stadium December 8 through 18, 2022.

Our regular calendar of events will resume in January.

For the duration of COP15, from December 1 to 20, 2022, access to the site will be limited to accredited individuals only. The security perimeter set up around the Palais will be open to pedestrians. Some lanes will be open for vehicles around the Palais, outside of the security perimeter.

Our public areas, event spaces and the Place-d’Armes metro station will remain fully open until November 30.

Circulation of vehicles will remain possible around the Palais. Some roads might be closed punctually during the fencing-off of the area throughout November.

The 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) is a United Nations conference. Government representatives from 196 countries will gather in Montréal to sign concrete agreements aimed at halting biodiversity loss around the world within the next 10 years. Over 10,000 dignitaries, heads of state, experts and delegates will be at the Palais des congrès de Montréal December 1 through 20, 2022 to address this global issue.

The record number of registrations COP15 has attracted is unprecedented in the history of the Conference. Every civil and governmental domain will be represented, among others by environmental and biodiversity experts, representatives from local indigenous communities, organizations and official institutions.

As a result, the expectation is that COP15 will deliver tangible decisions and actions protect our ecosystems planetwise,
