STI & HIV World Congress: Sexual Health for All

“Seeing STIs strictly as a youth problem is missing the boat.” For Dr. Marc Steben, President of the STI & HIV 2025 World Congress, President of the International Society for STD Research (ISSTDR) and Palais des congrès de Montréal Ambassador, it’s time to take a critical look at our perceptions of sexual health.

From July 26 to 30, 2025, the Palais is hosting the STI & HIV 2025 World Congress (1,500 delegates from around the world and close to $5 million in economic spinoffs), a half-century after the publication of the very first WHO report on sexual health. Far from a simple look back, this major event will tackle contemporary challenges, presented by Dr. Steben in this video interview: the resurgence of diseases thought to have been eradicated, persistent stigmatization, global funding challenges … but also the positive potential of artificial intelligence and new cutting-edge treatments.

More than a gathering place,  the Palais des congrès serves as a veritable hub of ideas, collaborations and concrete spinoffs for Québec society. By hosting this global summit, it positions Montréal at the heart of an international discussion on sexual health, for all generations.
