Palais Performance-certified by ICI on recycle +

The Palais des congrès de Montréal is proud to announce it has been Performance-certified by ICI on recycle +, a government program managed by RECYC-QUÉBEC that recognizes organizations for their efforts and commitment toward managing waste efficiently and proactively.

The Palais applied for certification by cataloguing all of its practices from recent years to arrive at a complete repertoire of its activities, from its administrative operations to how it runs events and its public spaces.

The Performance level of the program is the second of a series of four, which is an encouraging result for a first-time participation in the program, especially for a building the size of the Palais, visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year.

This certification reflects the degree to which the Palais has made responsible waste management a core value within its ranks and provides a framework for future improvements.

A source of inspiration for the next steps

The Palais will be focusing on two areas of improvement in particular to reach the Performance Plus level of the program: source reduction and reuse, and waste management system performance.

This will require the Palais to bolster efforts toward:

• Sorting, better reuse and recovery of all waste;
• Banning small single-use items;
• Responsible procurement across all levels.

The key to success? Continuous improvement, one step at a time!
