From October 28 to 30, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is donating its space to host the National Conference on Ending Homelessness (CAEH25), a major gathering to bring an end to homelessness in Canada.
CAEH25 will bring together communities, organizations, frontline workers, leaders and people who have experienced homelessness. Together, they’ll join their voices and strengths to learn, share their experiences and devise concrete strategies to end homelessness in Canada.
By hosting the event and donating its spaces, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is strengthening its vocation as a gathering place and reaffirming its commitment to finding solutions. Located in the city centre, a sector where residents, workers, visitors and people in vulnerable situations interact every day, the Palais acts daily to improve cohabitation and social dialogue.
Whether it’s through its involvement with the SPVM, the Société de développement social’s mediation program, the urban safety committee, which brings together major downtown players, or the business committee of the Mouvement pour mettre fin à l’itinérance à Montréal (MMFIM – Movement to End Homelessness in Montréal)—with which it’s working locally to host CAEH25—these actions reflect the Palais’ deep connection to Montréal’s social fabric, and its sincere desire to contribute to its stability.
For CAEH25, the Palais also partnered with Tourisme Montréal and Meet4Impact to assess the societal benefits of the conference. This approach aims to measure the tangible impacts of the event on public policies, community practices and awareness-raising among the general public around key themes:
All critical discussions with the aim of finding durable solutions, strengthening mutual aid networks and feeding the common goal of achieving a country where everyone has a roof over their head and lives with dignity.
Homelessness is a daily reality both in and around the Palais des congrès. Offering our spaces for free for this conference is a concrete way of participating in finding solutions and contributing to a vital dialogue for Montréal. Our responsibility extends beyond our four walls. The Palais is a living space in the heart of downtown, a meeting point between the Montréal population and the tens of thousands of Canadian and international visitors we receive each year. We want to be both a gathering place and a responsible social actor.
– Emmanuelle Legault, President and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montréal
We are extremely grateful to the Palais des congrès for their contribution to our movement and conference. The 2025 National Conference on Ending Homelessness (CAEH25) brings together people across our country on a critical topic at an important time. CAEH25 is our largest conference ever, with over 2,350 people in attendance. The contribution from the Palais and Tourisme Montréal has allowed us to make this event more accessible and inclusive to attendees, while passing on savings, so even more people working to end homelessness can join us.
– Tim Richter, Founder, President and CEO of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness
The National Conference on Ending Homelessness is a unique opportunity to bring together voices, knowledge and experiences from across the country. By encouraging social dialogue and collaboration among community, institutional and private players, we’re strengthening our collective capacity to build durable solutions. For Montréal, this event represents a great opportunity for learning, innovation and commitment to a city where every person lives with dignity and with a roof over their head.
– Julien David-Pelletier, Commissioner for Homelessness for the City of Montréal
Homelessness is everyone’s business, and we have a collective responsibility to take action to put concrete solutions in place. The Palais des congrès de Montréal’s generous contribution to the conference inspires hope, and we welcome their continued involvement and their gesture in the context of CAEH25.
– Michèle Chappaz, General manager of the Mouvement pour mettre fin à l’itinérance à Montréal (MMFIM – Movement to End Homelessness in Montréal)
Tourisme Montréal is proud to have contributed to attracting and hosting this event, which perfectly illustrates Montréal’s capacity to gather leaders and players from different backgrounds around issues that are vital for our communities. Tourism is, above all, an encounter between people and a living environment. By supporting a mobilization like this one, Tourisme Montréal reaffirms that the vitality and attractiveness of Montréal is also achieved through its solidarity and its commitment to all of its communities.
– Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal
