The Palais des congrès de Montréal hosted the 15th edition of the prestigious International Conference on Advanced Lithium Batteries for Automobile Applications (ABAA15), from October 28 to 30, 2024. This event, one of the most influential in the field of electric vehicle batteries, brings car manufacturers, battery manufacturers and leading scientists together around a common objective: shaping the future of sustainable mobility.

The ABAA15 is an exceptional showcase for the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs in the field of advanced lithium batteries, offering a unique platform to stimulate research and promote innovation.

The organization of this preeminent event in Montréal, led by Professor Karim Zaghib, an expert in chemical and materials engineering at Concordia University, Volt-Age project CEO and a Palais Ambassador, testifies to the international recognition of Québec’s central role in the energy transition. A key figure in lithium battery research, Professor Zaghib is considered the architect of Québec’s electric vehicle battery industry. His involvement was critical in positioning Montréal as a leader in the production of “clean” and traceable batteries, bolstering Québec and Canada’s ambitions internationally.

In an interview with the Palais’ team, Professor Zaghib talks about current issues in the industry and highlights the importance of technological innovations in responding to the growing need for sustainable and efficient batteries.
