More than simply a place to gather, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is sowing the seeds of a more sustainable events industry through its quest to find concrete solutions to promote more responsible practices. A recent initiative—the smart waste management system, designed in collaboration with students from Polytechnique Montréal—demonstrates the Palais’ leadership in sustainable development.
This responsible innovation drew the attention of L’alternateur, a platform powered by Hydro-Québec to showcase sustainable development projects.
In a video interview, the Palais opened the doors of its sorting centre to the team at L’alternateur to show them this innovative idea in concrete form: using artificial intelligence to efficiently reduce waste generated by the events it hosts. A way to show how innovation can and must serve a more sustainable future.
