The 75th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE), held at the Palais from August 18 to 23, 2024, brought together some 1,500 delegates from around the world, turning the city into a global hub of scientific exchange. This event was a fabulous opportunity for researchers to share their knowledge, discuss the latest breakthroughs and establish new collaborations. Students and young members of the profession were strongly encouraged to participate, giving the next generation of scientists an opportunity to benefit from the expertise and advice of renowned specialists.
Montréal, already recognized the world over for the excellence of its electrochemical research, distinguished itself once again by hosting this major event. The meeting’s estimated economic spinoff of $7 million for Montréal and Québec highlights the significant impact of meetings of this nature on the local economy.
As part of the 75th Annual Meeting of the ISE, the Palais’ team met with Daniel Bélanger, Professor Emeritus in the Chemistry Department at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Palais des congrès de Montréal Ambassador. In a video interview, he shares with us the importance of electrochemistry and the central role Montréal plays in this research sector.
