The Palais des congrès is extremely pleased to have hosted some of Montréal’s major events this past summer, attracting a total of 207,000 visitors and delegates from Mayof 2022 onwards. These events led to 96,700 overnight stays and more than 162 million dollars ineconomic spinoffs. It all adds up to a strong comeback for the Palais’ team and for our city’s key strategic and tourism actors.
A superb season for the Palais and all its Montréal partners
It was therefore with great joy that we once again experienced the excitement of hosting national and international events, all through the spring and summer of 2022. We welcomed, among others:

A full slate of events for the coming months
With a calendar of events that fills up months or even years in advance (in the case of some international events), the Palais is already gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors in the fall of 2022 and the winter of 2023.
The Palais’ teams recently confirmed that the following are coming to Montréal: the 23rd International Meeting on Lithium Batteries and ICOPA XVI – the 16th International Congress of Parasitology in 2026, as well as the World Engineers Convention in 2027. In its winning bids for these events, our city successfully competed against world-renowned destinations, and distinguished itself on the international stage by winning approval from experts in several fields.
Side by side with the community for two years
Staying productive throughout the pandemic, the Palais has over the past two years hosted several dozen local events, helped broadcast governmental messages, and opened its doors to numerous schools and universities, which were thus able to ensure that final exams were held for their students. These successes were the result of unwavering cooperation among several partners, including Tourisme Montréal, Montréal International and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montréal, and event organizers, who maintained their trust in the Palais.
Having thousands of square feet of space at its disposal, the Palais emerged as a major ally in the holding of safe events,and supported the province’s vaccination campaign, serving as a clinic site for several months.
The resumption of in-person events, which were again running optimally by the spring of 2022, set the tone for a packed season of congresses, conferences and festivals at the Palais.
AIDS 2022 Conference explained by two experts
As part of the 24th International AIDS Conference in Montréal, we received two leading figures from the field of science and the media for an interview:
Dr. Jean-Pierre Routy – Doctor and researcher at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, eminent AIDS researcher and co-chair of the 24th International AIDS Conference.
Yanick Villedieu – Science reporter and author, among Canada’s best known journalists on the subject AIDS, which he has been covering since the disease first emerged in the 1980s.
