PROGRESS: The Palais's health and safety protocolA new context, superior standards

To facilitate returning to business swiftly, responsibly, and with renewed purpose in a context of increased health and safety needs, the Palais created PROGRESS, the Palais Reopening Operating Guide to Running Events with Safety Standards.

This guide and the measures in place are based on the directives issued by the government of Québec and recommendations from the Institut national de la santé publique du Québec.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our visitors

As the situation is constantly evolving, PROGRESS will be regularly updated in accordance with the government’s directives and public health recommendations. 

The Palais des congrès remains focused on ensuring that all guests, delegates, and participants at Palais events have a positive experience that takes place in accordance with current standards to ensure a safe environment.

Our safety measures

  • Free access to a centralized system for greeting participants with checkpoints and hygienic measures 
  • Management of traffic flow to guide participants to event rooms quickly, preventing congregation in greeting areas
  • Visitor accreditation to manage traffic flow in event areas
  • Staggered arrival times for separate events that are being held simultaneously
  • Palais staff in contact with visitors will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (based on their roles and responsibilities and adhering to public health orders and the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail)
  • Employees will receive training on recommended PPE use
  • Admission and registration via electronic tickets and printable badges
  • Online ticket purchasing recommended, and cash purchases replaced by contactless payment options
  • Access to event areas limited to visitors who have been accredited and checked
  • Transactional spaces, registration counters, and information desks equipped with protective barriers
  • A kit outlining the arrival protocol and health and safety protocol will be sent to participants
  • Increased signage to promote hand hygiene and breathing etiquette displayed at Palais entrance points and event room entrances
  • Greeters stationed at all the different event points to assist participants
  • A patrol will be assigned to ensure the protocols are implemented and to remind participants of health and safety rules

  • Housekeeping services that reflect the new era of cleaning, combining disinfecting and sanitizing
  • A thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the premises was performed when the Palais reopened
  • Facilities and event spaces are disinfected daily using a Byoplanet-certified electrostatic spray system
  • Frequent cleaning of contact surfaces
  • Additional handwashing stations and hydroalcoholic gel dispensers placed at room entrances and high-traffic areas
  • High-performance ventilation systems subjected to a preventive maintenance program, and filters are replaced regularly
  • Use of a one-step, hospital-grade disinfectant cleaner based on AHP® (accelerated hydrogen peroxide) technology that delivers fast, effective results
  • Redesigned floor plans and capacities, along with event-planning teams on hand to provide support and guidance on possible configurations, crowd management, signage and directional systems, dedicated entrances/exits, greeting speakers, and other event needs 
  • TKNL and GES have joined forces and expertise and are proposing the addition of technological components to create hybrid events that combine in-person meetings with virtual interactions in real time
  • The management of the loading area, the logistics of inbound and outbound merchandise, and the protocol for the arrival of exhibitors have all been reviewed to ensure optimal health and safety conditions
  • New menus adapted to the situation — but just as delicious —created by Capital Traiteur Inc.
  • Buffets have been suspended until further notice, but a variety of compostable meal boxes, an adapted plated service, and appetizing express lunch alternatives are offered
  • Kitchen and food preparation is subject to Ecosure quality assurance programs, developed by Écolab, a world leader in cleanliness and food safety technologies and services
  • Strict hygiene and food safety standards are enforced at all times and exceed MAPAQ requirements in regard to COVID-19
  • All procedures for kitchen and service staff have been reviewed and approved by public health experts associated with the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec
  • A safe supply chain with priority given to local suppliers to support the local economy
