Montréal and the Palais were recently chosen to host major international events such as the 30th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence – IJCAI, which will bring together 3,000 delegates in 2021. Montréal will benefit from 8,400 room nights booked in hotels across the city and an estimated $4.5 M in tourism revenues. AI is a scientific field that is growing rapidly on the international scene, and several laboratories and organizations have already chosen to set up their operations in Montréal. Determined to position Québec as an AI hub, and in order to continue to foster their respective missions, the Université de Montréal, Fonds de recherche du Québec and Palais des congrès de Montréal joined forces to create the new Forum on the Socially Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence, which will take place November 2 and 3 at the Palais.
In 2023, the Palais will have the pleasure of once again hosting the World Irish Dancing Championships. Following the success of the 2015 edition, the group of 2,500 participants will book almost 7,000 room nights in Montréal hotels, and thus help generate $7 M in tourism revenues.
