The Palais des congrès de Montréal just had a particularly auspicious year. Between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011, it set new attendance records. It hosted no less than 350 events, and welcomed nearly 632,000 participants.
For Montréal alone, the approximately 207,000 room nights booked in the city’s hotels during major events amounted to $225M in estimated economic spinoffs. The 30 national and international conventions held at the Palais during that period accounted for $173M of that sum.
The calendar of events for the coming years look just as profitable, since over 397 events (conventions, consumer and trade show, corporate events) have already been confirmed, i.e. a 24% increase over the previous year, with the convention market increasing by 24% as well.
