Dr. Joelle Pineau won a Governor General’s Innovation Award for her work in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to healthcare.
Dr. Pineau joined the Ambassadors Club last November for bringing, together with her colleague Doina Precup, the 30th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence — IJCAI 2021 to the Palais. The conference will attract 3,000 delegates and generate significant intellectual wealth for the city and Québec, along with economic benefits estimated at $4.5 million.
Pierre-Luc Desgagné has been appointed Québec’s Delegate General to Brussels. Mr. Desgagné will be entrusted with promoting Québec and growing its reach, while building ties with European countries.
Mr. Desgagné has been a member of the Ambassadors Club since 2017, after attracting one of the leading international conferences on electric vehicles, i.e. the 29th World Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition, to the Palais in 2016. The event drew 2,000 delegates and generated almost $4 million in economic benefits.
